I am enjoying my career as a Learning Technologist. Like teaching, it still allows me to teach and train people but without the major disadvantage of marking, which I found to be the worst part of being a teacher. What I have discovered is that I love problem-solving.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I am quite creative and, as a teacher, I enjoyed creating learning resources, especially web-based eLearning resources. As I have always enjoyed working with video, one area that I would like to experiment with is interactive video, such as branching video. When I first looked at branching video in 2019, Adobe Captivate<\/strong><\/a> seemed to be a good choice, especially as I already have some experience of using the software.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Towards the end of 2020, I came across some software called Thinglink<\/strong><\/a>, which is used to create interactive images, 360\u00b0 images and 360\u00b0 videos. I have already given a presentation to the Director of the Institute of Policing to let him know what I am planning to do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n However, since then I have found software such as Cinema8<\/strong><\/a>, which is describes itself as “an experiential video interaction design platform that empowers video lovers to create gamified, engaging, interactive and video experiences on linear & 360\u00b0 videos<\/em>“. Their showcase includes gamification examples, and this is one area I would like to look at.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Whatever interactive video software we decide to purchase, the hardware I am looking at will probably be a Ricoh Theta V<\/a><\/strong> or Insta 360 One X2<\/strong><\/a> to create the 360\u00b0 images and videos, so I will hopefully be experimenting with one of those this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n As I mentioned in my Contextual Statement, I believe that gaining CMALT accreditation will help my career prospects.
